I am an independent popular culture scholar with a focus on horror, mummy, spy, and Gothic studies. I edited James Bond and Popular Culture: Essays on the Influence of the Fictional Superspy (2014) and the Bram Stoker Award nominated Horror in Space: Critical Essays on a Film Subgenre (2017). In 2020, I co-edited with Nicholas Diak Horror Literature from Gothic to Post-Modern: Critical Essays. All three academic collections have been published by McFarland & Company.
Each month, Nicholas and I co-host the H.P. Lovecast podcast, in which we discuss derivative works of H.P. Lovecraft. We also co-host Scholars from the Edge of Time streamed at BlogTalk Radio.
When not writing, I enjoy reading, art/photography, mid-century modern/tiki culture, and video games. I reside in Arizona – still a Wild West – with my long-time collaborator, Nicholas, and our two felines, Algernon and Cecily.
